WTB : Driver side front quarter panel to suit Oval

Post by PASHN8 »

Hi guys,

I'm after a straight and rust free clip/cut or a source of quality repro metal to replace the front drivers side quarter panel on my '54 Oval.
Will any Oval quarter suit? or even a 6V beetle quarter?

I need a complete quarter similar to the below picture:

Any help appreciated!

there was a nos oval panel on www.trademe.co.nz for ages but i can't see it there now.
it was for sale from one of the vw places over there. hopefully someone here will remember which one.

or

5th pic on the rhs. just get a bucket of KY first.

edit: andrew dodd had some front 1/4's but nfi if they were oval or later.

if you are anal about correctness you want a '58? down panel as after that the rib over the tierod arch changes from being pressed in to pressed out or vice versa. i'd imagine that after '60 when they went to the pressed shelf behind the spare tyre the 1/4 panel would have changed a lot more.

there may be other changes 54 - 58 as well.

Hi Henry,

Thanks so much for all your advice. I will contact Andrew Dodd and hope to catch up with Rick on Tuesday to see what he has as well.

They definitely don't seem to be an easy item to come by in good condition!
