Wanted: Right Hand Rear Type 1 Guard

Post by muz »

I can't take it anymore!

I don't know which style guard is correct for the year but one of the rear guards on my beetle is incorrect and a totally different shape

Someone might be able to tell me which one is correct but anyhow, i'm chasing a matching shape guard in reasonable condition... hopefully before Day Of so i can get it bodyworked, painted and mounted... along with some other things

PM, email: mpigdon@aapt.net.au or call 0415 392 754

Cheers,

I am no expert but thought that all 57-68 beetles had the same guards. Different lights but same guards. No?

That's what i thought too, however i notcied on another forum that a guy from the UK had the same problem as me... don't remember what the outcome was as to what year the incorrect guard was from.

Could it be an oval guard that somebody has filled and re-drilled the light holes?

I doubt.

More likely one could be a repro.

Where the bolt holes are there would be a raised section between the holes if it was an oval guard,

rear guards are pretty much the same except where the tail lights bolt.
