WTB Early Notch

Post by MaineBugs »

So now that Tiff has her bug back im looking at getting a daily VW for myself, im thinking early notch would be nice.
ratty or shiny but as little rust as possible must be running good and easy enough to get on the road with a little fiddling, interior doesnt bother me, probably pushing to get one on my budget of $3000 - $3500 MAX. happy to travel for the right one.

not trying to get on your case here col, but you've seriously done most of the hard work on the beetles already, might as well finish them.

if it's an easy, road ready driver that you're looking for, then good luck finding a good, early example for your price. maybe you'll have more luck finding a piglet, but even then, type 3's are sooooo different to beetles and need more specialised parts.

spend 2 g's on fixing up one of your beetles, leave 1 g for on roads and enjoy it dude.

Sorry I have to agree with Nafe as type3 parts don't really come cheap or easy like beetles.

Just food for thought.

Good luck in your quest though.

Not havin a go at any one, just tryin to enlighten people a little.

Most of our cars are mine, and they consist mostly of Fatty's. We all have our favorite VW that we one day wish to own, Col's just happens to be a Notch, mine is a Splitty. I know if I had the chance to be the proud owner of a Splitty I wouldnt pass the chance up just because I have other cars that I could work on. Would you?

Sorry if I'm sounding rude, I can see where you fellas are comming from but yeah thats my say

Here Ben, I got some photos of it today, mite be a bit tricky with that front axel missing. Ive got drums and wheels to put on but dunno how id go about getting a wheel on somehow on the passenger side. The door has recently fallen off, may have been from us opening and closing it the other week. Makes me cry everytime I go up there    .

Sorry brotherin just hijackin ya thread for a min

Agreed, just had to share it

Itd be to hard to trailer it out with out making to much noise, I was thinking get it rolling and roll it out the property, tow it up the track a bit then winch her on, if possible

i got some T1 beam bits about if they fit, you can scam 'em to go and get it, even temp, just to roll it on....
MB brethren, when you going? could be a good saturday excursion as part of/opposed to Rancho, sorry Ben, but this looks like a whole bunch of fun.... I'll be T3D's getaway driver if you want some help, have fair bit of lifting gear and stuff, but no crane anymore :(

sing out if you need more big guys who are prepared to run if a 12" anything comes out..... Go get it. AWESOME!

wouldn't a spindle/knuckle be able to be pinned into place, even without the carrier housing, just so there is something to bang a drum, a wheel and 2 wheel nuts onto???

wouldn't drive good, but just to get it rolling? or dragging without grief?
