Dont use porters paint, it is a acrylic base.It wont handle Expansion and and contraction of metal panels. It will start flaking off.

Its unfortunate you arent in melburg as architectural finishes are my
bag.I used to be the creative director of a company who did metal corrosive coatings on non conductive surfaces.

Including metal panels!

What brand do you use??

I'm a painter too... used to paint cars, now do architectural/industrial/residential/comercial/whatever is too hard stuff/ electrostatic spray onsite.
Its for some internal work so should be ok. Will be electrostatic sprayed 2k poly in silver first, then just 'spray- rusted' in spots.

Look ,if you are going to go that way, you could buy a sand blast gun and spray iron powder into areas while the silver is wet
, and then treat it with a chemistry mix I have.

It depends on the level of quality you want? And what look you want?
You might want to call me,as we could go around in circles forever.
