Totally agree. Did nothing for me and been going for the last 15 years. Same cars, same trophy hunters, same groups of ppl who dont seem to socialize with anyone else. Could save your $10 bucks and see a lot more quality cars in carpark! Just my opinion.

First time at the nationals. I was happy I got there, as it turned out to be bit of a challenge with batteries stuffing etc up and only getting the car running 8am this morning. Mission accomplished.
There were some very nice cars, but speaking generally the were lot of pretty boring cars and nothing super interesting really. Was hoping to find a bit of inspiration with something I hadn't seen before but no luck.
Was good to see a few lufters around.
Would also like to make it down to melburg one year.

Agreed.. same old show... nothing changes... less cars this year.. less cool stuff.
$30 show and shine entry fee probably turned a whole lot off.. and we had a sleep in and got there late so the gate was locked on us even entering... didn't give a shit about being judged, just wanted to be inside so people could have a gawk. Lucky one other dude at the front gate had a better perspective on life and let us park in there for $10. thanks go to him!
The cars in the pics above probably are the highlights, though I still managed to take 175 photos. Will put some good stuff up later.
I personally don't like how they jam all the cars under cover.. can't get a look at some of them as they are jammed in like its k-mart. All that space.. let them spread out like day of!
Didn't get to have a look around the carpark either.. when we drove in there looked to be more good stuff out there than in the show.

I enjoyed the day and was cool to go in with Azza. Glad we got the notch running too and it was a race to get there in time. There were some nice cars there but this event only made me more excited for the next DOVW in Victoria.

Some cool looking cars in the pic thread; the sky blau beetle, the blau square and the cream fatty......
I still think the entry judging line up is stupid, can see from the pics nothing has changed that way....
DOTVW attracts a much more balanced assortment of cars, but each to their own.
Btw, Undercover is great if it pisses down rain or is scorching hot.
Makes me more excited for november, especially since I missed last year.
Thanks for putting up the pics guys.......

Was a good event for me as I get the chance to catch up with all the guys from NSW who I don't get to see often. A few nice cars there.

Does anyone have a list of the winners from the day? I was assuming they'd be put up on the Club VW website but there's nothing on there.

Last year it was $15 for show n shine and this year doubel WTF? This sure did turn a lot of people off.
And not that I care but it seems things like trophies, show bags, etc has all been cost cut yet we pay more????
Dad was pretty happy with a win at the Supersprint and best engineered watercooled.
Ill post some pics up in the pic thread later!

Azza I thought your notch looked excellent mate. Nice ride.
Yeah the line up for entry to the show and shine is an absolute joke. Why the f@#k they can't park everyone in and then judge as they do at almost every other event is a mystery. Cost of entry and the wait for judging means some of the real 'gold' is in the car park. Saw a great filthy OG schwarz oval out there. Barn fresh as someone put it.
Couple of nice OG paint low light busses there too.
I know the Nationals aren't great but hey...it's all we got!

Thanks mate. I didn't know what to expect, never been before and didn't know what people would think of my relatively plain looking car. It was a fun day for me, but I don't think I'll bother doing it again. Almost too much hassle than it's worth in a way. Would be funny to just have a "breakaway meet" in the car park with temporary signage etc for those who can't be fucked paying for entry into the nationals haha
Looking forward to valla!
