Hi guys,

Wishful I know, but on the off chance, does anyone know of a good condition 3-fold rag top roof clip both here, or overseas for sale?

I've had a good look at the complete kit from vwsunroofs.com for 3-fold Oval which is very comprehensive, but want to see if there are any local OEM clips.

Any suggestions appreciated!

**Edit will happily through in a finders fee also for a successful lead!

Sure it was a 3-fold B? I'm pretty sure Fatty's have a different roof profile to an Oval? (I could be wrong).

While we're on the subject.
Is there any difference, apart from handle, between a 56 2 fold and a 60s 2 fold?

and continuing the questions any difference in size (width) of the bows etc from a 3fold to a 2fold?

is a 2fold and a 3fold made up of all the same parts except the extra bow?

No, hole size is different In length looks like theyre wider but not 100% and I'm sure bows are different

Square corners, different locking mechanism

I did talk to my trimmer, he reckons it wouldn't be hard to fake the funk though

Put in an extra bow and square off the corners

Thanks Jase :)

After reading till my eyes hurt, i'm thinking it's an economically smarter option to go with John Alba from vwsunroofs. We've been talking via email and he really knows his stuff.

You can see his kit here:

Once you factor in finding a rusty banged up 3-fold clip, then spending hundreds restoring it, it just doesn't make sense.

If anyone else is interested i'll ask him about discounts if we buy 2 or more and we can also share shipping which i'm going to organise through a cousin of mine who gets great prices as he works for OTS Freight Forwarders.

Let me know if anyone else is keen (Simon i'm looking at you :)) and i'll get some prices from John.

Bit hard to see does his kit come with a weld in pressing?

Ben, i'll let you know as soon as I get some further info from John.

Jase, I actually asked that exact question in my recent email to John. If it does, i'm pretty sure i'm sold.
You can also buy the square edged stayfast fabric through his site also.

um, er, sorta, dunno.
Put me down as a tentative
So it needs the kit in your link, the canvas cover and a ragtop specific headliner?? Is anything else required?

I'll have to go chat with Emerald to see what she reckons. (Nugget - don't you dare word her up beforehand)

Ok guys, here are some better pics from John.
Right now it would take me about a month to deliver. There is so much involved, I pre-fit every opening and the assembly before I ship it, also I include a profile of the the correct shape of the roof, so if the opening is damaged in shipping you would know it.

The 3 fold parts are made here in the shop by me, it's the only thing that requires I do every step - we are super busy right now so .. 30 days

I'm sure I could dig up some one's email or phone number who has installed one, if you want a testimonial.
He has a great rep on the samba, and there is a chap on AVD who has bought one and brought it in who swears it to be of great quality.
I'll ask him to send me some pics of his kit too.

After you click the thumbnail once, click it again once it opens up in the new screen to see the supersize version for details:

I've asked John about multiple discounts if any, and waiting to hear back.
All going well, i'll wire him a deposit ASAP as my shell will be nearing primer soon, so this will need to be fitted.
