Spent enough time around the Cardinals to realise theres a couple of blokes that know how to work on their own car, for every 10 that just wear the hair high, the jeans folded up, and the fancy jacket. Sorry, to rag on Rhetts thread, but as pointed out, look at Roth, no billy hick quiff, driving a beetle ffs. Most VW guys I know are more like the old hot rodders. Building cars with minimal $$, using whatever they have lying around, helping each other, etc etc.

I get what your all saying, at the end of the day I don't go to CHOPPED to look at the VWs,
I go to CHOPPED for the bands, the atmosphere and to look at cars that I really admire, which without the rule in place either wouldn't be there or I'd have to wade through heaps of modern street rods to find something cool.

It's funny, all this talk kind of reminds me of the shit we were copping when we first started the LUFT. People making statements without actually giving it a chance. Just the shoes on the other foot. I'm sure if you guys came along for just one day, you'd be back next year

Chopped is the coolest event that you will go to, I hear what your saying Rhett, it just disappoints me when Ryan lets in a fatty with no guards, basically stock, and there are fendered bugs outside from the 50's and early 60's, looking the part, and don't even get a chance. I don't go to look at VW's either, but few way cool ones wouldn't look out of place, that's all. See you there...

Looks like a good event with great following, don't love the specific disclusion of vws when it was first advertised but understand what they were attempting to do...
I'd go for a look just for me and am sure we would make an awesome weekend of it with a group of mates... Just haven't had the opportunity... Yet....
Agree in part with Josh but sadly the mix of actual builders in any car scene is a bit fifty fifty.... (says me who hasn't built shit )
