Hey lads,

I've been trying to get hold of a genuine dealership sign for the mancave for some time and haven't been having much luck like this one:

I have approached multiple dealerships in Australia in regards to how to buy one, and who the supplier is who makes the signs and all of them draw blanks. All the staff seem to know is that they come from VW Australia corporate, and that they have no details other than that.

One came up on ebay second hand and sold for $2k, and I was surprised even though they don't seem easy to come by - link:

Anyone have any info? I know any sign company could make something similar but i'd rather a genuine one, rather than a knock-off :)

Really Jase? I was surprised to see it go for $2k without a relist. You just can't get the newer ones I've found.

I'd love an older one Benny ;)

Spoke to the Bendigo Symes Motors dealership about the same thing years ago, and they said that the signs belonged to VW Australia as part of the franchise arrangement. VW Group are very particular about their trademark and branding, and wouldn't agree to sell signage, and they only supply Authorised dealers as replacements. I got lucky years ago when the Box Hill dealer ( Ward Motors) went out of business and tracked down the sign before it was destroyed.
The older signs do come up for sale, just have to keep looking.

Problem is it's only the front plastic dome, no frame or fixture and I feel it's a tad overpriced, I'm no sign expert but $1200 is a little out of my budget :(

Ok I'll rephrase, I'd like one, but a wedding this year and 3 project cars on the go mean it's priority is a little lower than normal.

$800 id pay, $1200 it can wait :)

Beware of the seller, he is a paranoid fückwit.
I bought this sign from him the last time it was listed. He lives in Northcote, and the sign is located in Mt Waverley. We agreed to meet at 10:00am in Mt Waverley.
I kept asking him for the address, he told me 3 times that he would text it to me. Well, by 10:00 I was in Mt Waverley, waiting for his text. Then he wouldn't answer the phone. After the 3rd phone call, he answered the phone, and again said he would text me the number, but he wont be there until 10:45. So I waited for the text, and 10:45 still nothing. Then at 11:15 I finally got in touch with him again. This time he said he did not want to give me the address as he was concerned that stuff would get pinched from his mums house, where the sign was.
He told me that he would meet me at a local petrol station at midday......At that time, I told him to get fücked.

Real dickhead.

That's funny you say that John because the first time he listed it I sent him a message inquiring and he told me the president of the VW club had offered him $2000 so he said sorry it's basically sold but he couldn't cancel the auction so I didn't bother.

Next thing you know it's relisted

Now he wants $3k?? Dude's lost the plot.
