I had a R32 replica when i lived in england, it had these wheels on it, i sold it to a mate who then crashed it. He just popped down the shops and came back with a new set, they are everywhere in england, have a feeling posage would be a fortune so it depends on how much you want them and how much you want to pay

Try Jon Van Look (JVLRacing) on Aussieveedubbers. He's into the round circuit stuff, and has both gens of R32's so far that I know of. He may have changed rims somewhere along the line.

its grand to see as Im pretty noobs to forum sorts of crap, love that you all have a crack back with some advice...

I got my wheels finally, from tempe (the place that seems to do alot of replicas for OEM VW) and just so happens I got the genuine OEM Ronel Aristos 2nd hand as they had just got them in a trade in, resprayed them for me and decent kuhmo tyres I got them at a steal....
I assume these are round the same as the oz racing made Aristo, weight and strength wise I mean.

so very happy.... they look great

so now, of course I look to the same lot of you for that same advice on the unavoidable next step, springs and shocks to lower the car a tad..

I think if its not to intrusive, I'd like to drop it 1.5 inches approx, depending on the sitch with camber kit requirements, sway bars, control arm mods, ridiculas bumpy road rash and the alike, I really don't want to get too excited


I have not much idea on the practical differences in shocks but assume some damper quite well where others "cheap" ones at that are quite weak, without damper capabiliys and simply unsupportive / or just way to hard..?

So what I've been looking at are
Bilstein seem very dear
KYB seem good and good on the wallet... but which ones??
KONI but I've no clues as to how good they are really?
Whiteline ????
and sprins, whats good value for money..... king, H&R....?

great news on findin the wheels ya wanted, for your lowering needs i wouldnt go past a good coilover set up. usually a good set have height and dampner adjustments already in them. so you can adjust your car quite simply to your needs. street, track, shows. all at a twist of a coupla halfmoon wrenches (that come with the kit) and 1 to 1 and a half inches will be fine

GOOD springs and shocks/struts are gonna cost roughly the same amount, just a little less. i wouldnt go KINGS (big boo) but WHITELINE & KONI i cant say a bad word against them.

i had tein coilovers super streets in my rice burner, they were the shiz, never needed any other suspension mods. all i would have considered were sway bars. im sure theres a reputable euro company that makes them both for your VW

so yeh hope that rant helps mate, i vote COILOVERS, cant go wrong with them on a modern ride, just make sure ya get the softest ones available. street use ones are the go

Whiteline aren't as good as they used to be (new owners + less quality). But still better than Kings. BTW if you're ever after after Whiteline springs just get Dobinsons ones - made by the same company to the same specs!

Konis Yellows are a great shock, and Teins are a great coilover as Pete said, and Fulcrum stock them locally.

No I know Matt and Tom at Volksaffair.....

There is a bloke , i forget his first name but his lastname is Ansell and he does all the go fast stuff/chipping for all Golfs he is located in Dover Street Richmond. Shouldn't be too hard to find the street its not very long.

Twas the topic of discussion at the time I met Simon, Seems that he has moved. This is the person I was referring to.

I'd been told King were great but not specifically on the Golf so maybe they are better on heavier applications, and I appreciate the advice, I inquired with race brakes and I must say it ain't a cheap set up, they were quoting KONI and EIBACH at a fairly high price, welkl over a grand for each!! OMG!!!

so I'm gonna save just a lil bit and keep looking, not that they aren't a great place to go to, I've heard their top notch by STI owners.....

Howard there was very helpful to say the least.....

what about KYB shocks crew, they good, bad?

just remember ya get what ya pay for. qaulity usually costs. buy cheap buy twice, i always say. KINGS are only a showpony spring, any kinda work track etc and they sag like a nutsack in the sun, id say heavier applications would be worse
