didnt know who else to ask, so thought id try here, a friend has a 2002 golf with a cooling problem, shes been qouted about 1200 to replace a fan and some coolant hoses, from a VW dealer in preston, wondered if anyone knew a private VW repairer in the northern side she could try.. im assuming a dealer would be outrageous on labour and markup on stuff like this..shes struggling financially and I would hate to see her pay way too much for something that may be more cheaply repaired..
Im hopeless on modern stuff, and swamped with work myself.

Common, Thermo fan switch and or a fan , try Volkspower they mau be able to do it at a better price.
