Here in Vegas every friday night, all the meat head bogans get together and hangout in a big carpark. Never been before but was told to expect some big dollar builds.
Nugget, Leroy and I all squeezed into the Pea (yes very VERY tight) and went to check it out.
As expected, there were some fuckin cool rides there, a lot of old skool shit and amazing paint work.
Thought I might share some pics with ya .... albeit bad ones
Having heard some of the paint budgets these guys outlay, you realise why they can get such awesome finishes. I was speaking to a guy helping complete a chev camaro the other day....owner is up close to $300K with close to $200K of that on custom mods (body) and panel/paint.
Would love someone to come along prepared to spend that on a splitty.....then I could get them mirror straight!!
Loved that Model A in the last couple of pictures.
Was actually talking to the guy who owns it down at Wintersun. From memory, the quickchange out back was made of wood, only the middle carby works, there was something weird with the manifold (wood as well maybe) and there was something else on it that was fake that i can't remember!
He certainly nailed the look though and done on a shoestring budget.

Might be talkin about the 69' camaro we did at work...if it is try 450 - 500 grand...it sounds crazy but it cost that much..considering the work that we put into it..like the only thing that's not kustom is the turret...

Kustom City look like they do some great high end stuff, must be a great place to work.
Any chance of getting a tour..... maybe a lufters day out for the queensland crew?
all smoke and mirrors mate nah it was sik working there...but bout 6months ago got a pretty rare virus that damaged my spinal cord pretty bad and while i was in hospital the boss (cockhead) did a runner and ALOT of ppl lost ALOT of money and shit..so wish i could give ya a tour but unfortunately its no longer
Haha....thats the one mate. I was getting the rough build cost details second hand so not surprised it wasn't 100% accurate.
Saw it in the flesh, love the wheels...shame kustom city went bust before the paint was cut and buffed. Will certainly get some attention when completed.
Al
PS I think I need to start restoring muscle cars instead of dubs
yeah..its deffinatly where the big money is just gotta think outside qld i think well only ever had 1 or 2 local cars in at once..always interstate..id love 2 check out ur shed 2..looks like some good work coming out..
You're welcome to swing by any time mate. As you'd know the end product can only be as good as the hours put into it....the less hours (ie. $$), the more compromises one has to make with the finish.
If you are heading to the show on sunday at mudgeeraba I'll have a few cars on display inc Leroys panel.

That seems like a common problem with hot-rod shops that try to expand and get too big for the customer base in Australia.
Good luck with your recovery, i hope things are looking up for you.
