Wanted - Some sort of old school looking large red stoplight

Post by grpawalky »

Guys, I'm looking for some sort of old school round red stop light I can put on the back bar of my 55 Oval. Any suggestions welcome as to whats around, what I should be looking for, where I might find one or if someone has something I could use and they want to sell it please let me know. (Nearly got rear ended as the hearts weren't noticed when I was stopping).

Cheers

Wire up your tailight around the other way.
This way your brake lights are the larger glass lenses and not the hearts.
Everything 36HP !
Change over king and link spindles
6-12volt semaphores

Yeah, I find that at night, they work......OK.
The problem is in daylight, man they are dangerous!!
I'll try wiring the other way see how that goes. But I'm still after some sort of aftermarket light.

Got mine off american ebay $75 delivered a couple of years back
Its not exactly large though.I think you could make your own if you have a clear 5'' spot/fog light that is the right vintage and buy some red lense dye.I purchased some years ago from Rare Spares

You could have a pair of reverse lights, one clear for reverse and the other you paint the inside with glass paint (red as a stop light)

Thanks. :D

The story? Dunno, but I picked this and another oval up from an old guy who was getting rid of a heap of old cars. Pretty funny really, got the certificate from the fatherland and it was built 2 days after my birthday in 55. It's the OG 36hp and all. I don't plan on doing much more to this one, maybe a slightly narrowed beam and if I feel generous, a new interior. The other ones not on the road yet.
Cheers n beers
