Wanted OG steering wheel for 1960 Beetle (Got one)

Post by dock »

Lads
I am looking for a decent steering wheel, including horn rim etc for my '60 Beetle. Any help would be much appreciated.

Ben for a price you can have mostly whatever you like.

Got to work out why it slips on the steering column. The splines on the column look fine the ones on the steering wheel maybe a little worn - new to Beetles are the splines different on later models ?

After ovals 55 I think the spline is the same all the way through - but don't quote me...? Have seen early to late wheel swaps and vicaversa but that's not to say people haven't swapped the columns too I guess...

Might be worth having a gander at the steering coupler attached to the shaft, if the clamps loose then you may find thats where the movement is not at the steering wheel end

66 BRM - you were on the money. Bit relieved really as i was pretty disappointed thinking the wood rim wheel would have to go. Pays to ask early

Cheers Paul
