Ok boys, so the update is John has sent me enough information including the contact details for 3 buyer testimonials and seems like a very honest and nice guy to deal with.
That combined with a fantastic product means i'm going to pull the trigger and order one. Should hopefully have it here end of October, early November.

I'm going to go with a schwarz stayfast 3-fold rag top, but can anyone advise what colour headliner I should use? (Not a big fan of the light brown)

possibly blau interior - in which case a grey or weiss headliner could suit...
i'd go grey...

I'd better go start digging up some pics of the slate blau interiors and check the headliners! I think grey could be the best choice too, I'll report back.

i think red is the most common colour you see with strato silver but i think blau would be the ticket.

After much patience from John Alba at Grumpy's Metal (VWSunroof.com) I have paid my deposit and looking forward to delivery as soon as John has a chance to complete it.
