by "crash box" do you mean a 53?-60 splitcase box with no syncro on first, or a split window bug/euro standard oval box with no syncros?

I know I'm going to regret asking this...

But aren't the nose cones the same anyway?

Yes an oval box cheers Ben,

Worked out what the noise in the gear box is, it's had a later 6v gear box put in and it's throwing everything off. It's sitting a bit higher and vibrating through the tunnel. Smashed the clutch to bits today and thought while the engines out should try and fix the problem.
