Having had the dash out of this for years as well, I thought I'd make a start on replacing the shitty foam tape vw used in the 90s in the all the vents.
I think I may have a handle on all the loose wires I inherited with this car too. It's almost time to throw it back together...., get another roady and some reg, then probably sell it...

After a few hours searching the net I found a site that shows how to split the ac and heater, in order to clean the rest of the foam out of the system.
Every other site tells you, you must pull the whole ac/heater system out completely. Bollock to that.

New foam tape applied and a quick inspection of the heater core revealed it had already been replaced previously.

Now it back to fun with wiring.....

OK so the dash is back in

Dropped the tank to drain the bad fuel and give it a thorough clean in and out

Also dropped the secondary fuel pump and filter for a clean and renew as well.

And cleaning 30 years of shit off the underside.
