NSW permits
Hey northerners. What's the go with using permits to drive about up there? Is a VIC permit recognised at all or would you need a permit for both states to drive from Melburg up to Syd? Do they even issue permits up there? Had a look on the NSW RTA site but it's not too clear.

From Vicroads website:
http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Reg ... Permit.htm
Interstate use
You can drive interstate with an Unregistered Vehicle Permit this condition is specified on your permit.
You do not need a permit from VicRoads if your journey starts interstate and finishes in Victoria. Check with your local vehicle registration authority if you need an interstate permit before you drive.

FONZ....eeeeeeyyyyy!!!, just been through this getting the samba here from the Berg. You can get a Vicroads permit to take you from the Berg to Sydney to 1 location by the most direct route. Up to you how long to take (up to 28 days). When you get to that destination in Sydney you need a NSW permit to move it from there on another single journey I.e back to Melburg. Thing is to get a NSW permit you need to have a pink slip inspection done, then attend a registry in person to pay!!
I just used Ceva to get the bus to Sydney ($400 depot to depot) and used a Vicroads permit to drive it the 8kms home which was cheaper than a towie, cheaper than Ceva (they wanted $286 to deliver it the 8kms to my door), and saved the hassle of going for a pink slip (which with the slammage its got not sure it would pass).
Cheers
