WTB Speedster or a Spyder 550 replica

Post by karmannghia60 »

A mate of mine is looking for a project Speedster or a Spyder 550 replica. Preferably something that was registered at some stage but have seen better days so he can revive it. Location is not a major concern
Any leads appreciated
Cheers

look for the speedster - not a hope in hell to find a 550, let alone get it registered!

I've seen few LHD speedster replicas registered in Australia so I assume the same can be done with a 550. Only an assumption though

Speaking from experience of owning a 550 and others I know who have/are trying to register them - don't even go there!

I don't have any pics..the car's tucked away under cover in the garage.
If you have Issue 21 (Feb-April '09) of VW Magazine Australia, there's a feature on one of the other two. It's exactly that car (though mines not exactly in the same condition...and he's widened the rear guards slightly).
I'm waiting for motivation and time to restore it...both sadly lacking. Or someone who wants it more than me and can make something of it.

Nope, that's not where it is - its down on the cnr of Neild Ave + William street, Elizabeth Bay. There's a new classic car shop with Lambo's, mescherschmidts, beetles, things...the list goes on. This 550 rep has just arrived.
